目前,哈罗海口为高年级学生提供5天和7天的寄宿选择,并安排了两栋宿舍楼——

女生将在入住山丘舍(The Knoll);男生则住在果园舍(The Grove)。纪律严明、轻松有趣的寄宿生活不仅给学生的课余时间增添了乐趣,帮助他们更快地融入校园生活,更对学生的全面发展起着至关重要的作用。

Currently, Harrow Haikou offers 5-day and 7-day boarding options for Upper School students, and it will be two Boarding Houses by September ——

Girls will be staying in The Knoll; Boys will live in The Grove. Well-managed, relaxing and interesting boarding life not only injects much fun into students' spare time, helps them integrate into campus life fast, but also plays a vital role in students' all-round development.

从提升自理能力开始




离开父母的照料,学会独立解决生活遇到的问题,这对于刚开始寄宿生活的孩子来说,是一项不小的挑战。而寄宿制作为“英式教育”的精髓之一,首先要做的便是提高学生的自主性。


开始寄宿生活后,孩子们需要按时起床,整理好个人物品以及确保宿舍环境干净整洁,为一天的课程学习做好准备。

开启寄宿生活后,孩子们的在校时间大幅增加,如何充分利用空余的课外时间?


为此,哈罗海口将宿舍打造成一个小社区,为寄宿生提供公共休息室、音乐室、泳池等多个娱乐设施及场所。



缤纷课后活动,

让孩子利用好每一分钟


寄宿生们拥有一系列丰富的活动选择,涵盖体育、学术、音乐、影视、创意等多个领域。在参与活动的过程中,孩子们可以充分施展个人才艺并挖掘全新才能,同时增进与其他寄宿生的交流互动,大大提升他们的社交力,促进健康心态的养成。

带领同学们为学校出谋划策


在寄宿生活中,孩子们可以通过参加“学生之声”、食品委员会等项目和竞选体育学生代表、宿舍纪律长来充分锻炼他们的领航力,带领他们的同伴,为学校的决策做出贡献,从而提高寄宿生们的凝聚力和参与度。



多彩周末活动,

在服务社会中培养个人素质


周末,5天寄宿生离开学校和家人相聚,7天寄宿生的日程也被安排得丰富精彩!在孩子们完成两小时的学习后,我们会为留宿的学生安排博物馆参观、看电影、徒步旅行等活动。在周日,我们还会组织孩子们参与海滩清理、海龟保护行动、动物保护协会关爱行动等社会服务活动。让孩子们在培养兴趣的同时,学会如何关爱动物、他人乃至社会,培养亲社会的性格及良好的道德素质。

After starting boarding life, children's school time has increased greatly. How to make full use of the spare time?


To this end, Harrow Haikou has built the boarding house into a small community, providing students with a common room, music room, swimming pool and other entertainment facilities and places.

extracurricular activities

Harrow’s boarders have a vast array of activities, covering sports, academic, music, film and television, creativity and other fields. During the process of participating in these activities, children can fully display their individual talents and explore new skills and meanwhile, enhance communication and interaction with other boarders, thus greatly improving their social ability and promoting development of healthy mentality.


Enhance the ability to offer advice through the leadership program

Boarders at Harrow enjoy leadership opportunities and can participate in the "Voice of Students", food Committee and other programs, and become sports leaders and Boarding House prefects to fully exercise their leadership skills,  make contributions to school’s decision-making, so as to improve the cohesion and engagement of all boarders.



Colourful


At the weekend, the 5-day boarders leave school to get together with their families, and the seven-day boarders’ weekend schedule is rich and colourful! After two hours of study, we will arrange students to visit museums, watch movies, go hiking and other activities for fun. On Sunday, we will also organize children to participate in beach cleaning, turtle protection program, animal protection association care and other social service activities. We expect our children to learn how to care for animals, other people and even the society while cultivating their interest, prosocial character and good moral quality.

Jo Evans 女士

副校长

宿舍总管

Evans女士在英国和其他国家从事教育工作20年,她很高兴能领导新的寄宿团队。在加入哈罗之前,Evans女士曾在中国和福克兰群岛从事寄宿管理工作。她相信通过寄宿团队的丰富经验和共同努力,能够使哈罗海口成为亚洲最好的寄宿学校,并为我们的学生提供出色的寄宿服务和体验。


山丘舍(女生宿舍)

Yin Meng 女士

舍监

Meng女士曾在奥地利维也纳读高中,然后移居英国,在伦敦大学玛丽女王学院获得语言研究的本科学位,之后在香港获得了对外汉语教学的硕士文凭。Meng女士是哈罗香港的创始人员。此后,她一直担任寄宿舍监,与年轻人一起工作,支持他们的学术和个人发展。


Hattie Milton 女士

舍监

Milton女士在英国学校从教25年,教授数学和英语。她的大部分时间都在英国度过,也曾在中国和越南教书。在她之前就任的学校里,她与寄宿学生有着密切的联系,了解那些远离家里、与他人生活的孩子可能遇到的问题。她是一个热情且富有有同情心的人,她经常鼓励并帮助学生培养独立和自信。


张乾玲女士

舍监助理

毕业于曼彻斯特大学国际教育专业,获得硕士学位。加入哈罗海口成为舍监助理之前,在深圳已有3年的教学经验。张女士喜欢利用节假日的时间到处游览不同的城市和国家,去感受多样的文化,去获得不同的启发。她相信她的生活和工作经历能够给孩子们带来有关社交和学习方面的帮助,确保他们在宿舍获得关怀与进步。

Tim Brewer 先生

舍监

Brewer先生在加入海口哈罗之前在福州的一所寄宿学校工作,负责照顾400名学生。他的教育理念是:设立高标准,不论学生的背景和能力,培养最优秀的学生。“您需要能够激励并鼓励学生或员工努力变得更好,因此我们需要将自己的一部分全身心投入到学生和员工身上,以实现这一目标。”


Matthew Henman先生

助理舍监

Henman先生作为一名合格的足球、篮球和躲避球教练,以及英国中小学和大学的教师和课程导师,一生的大部分时间都与学生和年轻人一起工作。在从事教育工作期间,Henman先生的一个关键角色就是为学生提供人文关怀。他认为当今世界的年轻人面临着独特的挑战,他热衷于利用自己的经验和知识,使学生们能够更好地战胜这些复杂的挑战,充分发挥自己的潜力。


Adrian Jordan 先生

助理舍监

Jordan先生有超过17年的教学经验,加上在学术和人文关怀环境中担任领导职位的多年经验。他曾在哈罗北京工作了9年,是其寄宿团队的创始成员之一,先后担任了寄宿团队的助理舍监和舍监一职。除了为学生提供人文关怀的职责外,他还是一名高年级英语教师,拥有应用语言学和对外英语教学的硕士学位,为他帮助那些将英语作为第二语言甚至第三语言的学生提供了专业基础。


Robinson Choe 先生

舍监助理

Choe先生毕业于计算机科学专业,曾在德国弗莱堡大学担任自动定理证明和编程语言领域的研究员2年,并在柏林担任外汇交易员10年。在加入海口哈罗的寄宿团队之前,他最初是担任助教一职。他喜欢作为团队的一部分,创造有利于培养寄宿生健康习惯、团队精神、强烈的责任感和独立能力的院舍精神。作为一个自认的“数学人”,Choe 先生为寄宿生们开发了数学课程,在这门学科上为寄宿生们提供课后支持与帮助。

专人专职,给予全方位照顾


所有的舍监在寄宿生的德育和学习辅导工作方面都有着丰富的经验。他们既是舍监,也是老师或助教,为寄宿生提供具有针对性的学术支持。新寄宿生在校期间,舍监还将定期通过电话、邮件的形式与家长进行联系,汇报孩子的最新状况。






为保障寄宿生的安全,哈罗海口还聘请专门的顾问负责学生校内安保,24小时守护寄宿生的安全。



同样24小时在线的还有医护人员。我们安排了3名医护人员进行24小时轮流值班,为孩子提供细致医疗服务。

In September this year, two Boarding Houses at Harrow Haikou will be managed by their own boarding housemistresses/housemasters. 

Some of them have decades of cross-cultural education experience, some have strong background in famous universities, and some have solid professional teaching quality. They are to work together to provide the boarders with holistic care. Let's get to know the professional management team of Harrow Haikou’s Boarding House and see how they show their magic power!


Ms. Jo Evans

Assistant Headteacher (whole school)

Head of Boarding

Having worked in education for 20 years, in the UK and internationally, Ms. Evans is excited to lead the new boarding team in making Harrow Haikou the best boarding school in Asia. Having worked in boarding both in China and the Falkland Islands prior to joining Harrow, Ms. Evans is confident that the combined experience of the boarding team will enable us to achieve this goal and provide an excellent boarding experience for all of our students.

Ms Yin Meng

Boarding House Mistress

Ms Meng studied high school in Vienna, Austria and then moved to the UK for undergraduate language studies at Queen Mary’s, University of London, before completing a Masters in Teaching Mandarin as a foreign language in Hong Kong, MsMeng was a founding staff member at Harrow Hong Kong, where she has worked as a Boarding Housemistress since, allowing her to work with young people and support their academic and personal development. 


Ms Hattie Milton

Boarding House Mistress

Ms Milton has been teaching in UK schools for more than 25 years. Her subjects are mathematics and English as an Additional Language. The majority of this time has been spent in the UK, though she has also taught briefly in China and Vietnam. In her current school, she works closely with the boarders and understands the issues that can arise for children who are away from their home and who are living closely together with others. She is a warm and empathetic person, and her biggest joy is in empowering students and helping them gain independence and confidence in themselves. 


Ms Ling Zhang

Boarding Assistant

I studied International Education from University of Manchester, Master degree. I had over 3 years teaching experience in Shenzhen before joining Harrow Haikou as Boarding House Assistant. I like to spend my holiday traveling cities and countries to expose myself to various cultures and to be inspired to enrich my experience. I believe my previous experience really enables me to provide social, academic, and pastoral care to ensure the development and well-being of every student in the Boarding House.

Mr. Tim Brewer

Boarding House Master

Mr Brewer joins Harrow Haikou from his current post at a boarding school in Fuzhou, where he is responsible for the care of 400 students. His philosophy of education is having very high standards and developing students to be the best they can be regardless of their background or ability. “You need to be able to inspire and encourage either students or staff to strive to become better, so we need to invest part of ourselves into students and staff to make this occur.”


Mr. Matthew Henman

Assistant Boarding House Master

Matt has worked with students and young adults for most of his life as a qualified coach in Soccer, Basketball and Dodgeball and a Teacher and Course Tutor in Schools and Colleges within the United Kingdom. During his time working in education, one of Matt’s key roles has been the pastoral care of students. He understands that young people have unique challenges in the world today, and he is passionate about using his experience and knowledge to better equip them to navigate through these complexities to fully achieve their potential.


Mr. Adrian Jordan

Assistant Boarding House Master

I have over 17 years’ teaching experience coupled with numerous years in leadership posts, both within an academic and pastoral setting. I previously worked for 9 years at Harrow Beijing and was one of the founding members of its boarding team. By the time I left Harrow Beijing, I was the assistant head of boarding and a housemaster. After this post I moved to Dulwich College in Myanmar where I set up and ran that country’s very first international school boarding house. Apart from pastoral responsibilities, I am also an Upper School English teacher with a Master’s degree in Applied Linguistics and TESOL which has been fundamental in assisting those students who speak English as a second or even third language.


Mr. Robinson Choe

Boarding Assistant

Robinson graduated in Computer Science and spent 2 years as a researcher at Freiburg University, Germany in the field of Automated Theorum Proving and Programming Languages as well as working as a Forex trader in Berlin for 10 years. He joined Harrow Haikou initially as a teaching assistant before joining the boarding team. He enjoys working as part of a team to create a house ethos conducive to cultivating healthy habits, team spirit and a strong sense of responsibility and independence in our boarders. As a self confessed ‘Math Guy’ , Robinson has developed support programmes for boarders in this subject.

Each role 


All the boarding housemistresses/housemasters have rich experience in moral education and academic guidance for boarders. 

They are not only boarding housemistresses/housemasters, but also teachers or teaching assistants, providing targeted academic support for boarders. 


When the new boarders in school, the housemistresses/housemasters will regularly contact their parents by telephone and emails to report the latest situation of their children.




Harrow Haikou also hired a special consultant to be responsible for the security of all our students in the school. We have security guards within the boarding community 24 hours a day.


Medical staff also worked 24 hours a day in the school. We arranged nurses to be on duty 24 hours in turn to provide detailed medical services for the children.

为什么给Jerry选择了在哈罗海口寄宿?


选择寄宿的原因很简单,人是群居动物,人迟早都要踏入社会。


但是Jerry他们这代人因为城镇化改造,从小就失去了接触其他孩子的环境,他们这代都是在楼房里,在父母或祖父母的呵护中长大的,他们对群体生活、社会生活根本没有完整的认识,只能到大学后才真正有这个机会。


我们觉得这个时间太晚了,他们在成长中的一些问题不能及早地暴露,也就失去了在合适的时间段纠正的机会,最后会导致一些性格和观念上的偏差。

所以,我们让他寄宿,让他在合适的年龄去融入人群,在生活中学会处理人际交往的实际问题,让他自己去发现自己在人群或社会中的位置。


与此同时,寄宿也意味着离开父母的监管,他会有充分的自由度,有自己安排自己生活和时间的锻炼机会。我相信寄宿能帮助他形成完整的性格和观念,能及时地暴露一些成长问题,我们也能及时给与他帮助。

Why did Jerry choose boarding  at Harrow Haikou?

The reason for boarding is obvious. People are social animals. Sooner or later, people have to step into society. 

However, due to the urbanization, Jerry and his generation have lost plenty of opportunities to get to know other children since childhood. They all grew up in apartments and under the care of their parents or grandparents. They have no complete understanding of group life and social life. They can only have this opportunity after entering universities. 


If so, we feel it is too late and in addition, some problems in their growing process can not be exposed as soon as possible, so they will lose the opportunity to correct them at the right time with the bad consequence of some personality and conceptual deviations. 

Therefore, we make Jerry live in the Boarding House, make him integrate into the groups at the right age, learn to deal with the practical problems of interpersonal relationship in life, and make him find his position in the groups or society by himself. 


At the same time, boarding also means that without the supervision of parents, one will have full freedom and opportunities to arrange his/her own life and time. I believe boarding can help Jerry form good character and concept toward life, as well as exposing some growth problems in time so that we can support him in time.
